Don Byrd leads the probate and estate litigation practice at Higgins Estate Group, focusing on the full range of contested and complex estate matters that arise after a loved one’s death. His practice encompasses probate litigation, will contests, trust disputes, contested estate administration, and the full spectrum of inheritance conflicts that bring families to court in Middle Tennessee.
Mr. Byrd has dedicated his entire legal career to probate and estate law. He counsels heirs, beneficiaries, and estate administrators through both routine probate proceedings and high-stakes contested matters — from straightforward asset distribution to complex multi-party inheritance disputes. His depth of experience in Tennessee probate procedure and estate law allows him to identify litigation risk early, advise clients on their rights under Tennessee law, and pursue or defend contested estate matters in Davidson County Probate Court and throughout Middle Tennessee.
Mr. Byrd graduated at the top of his class from Belmont University College of Law in Nashville, Tennessee. He also holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Theory and Composition from Belmont University.
